5 Signs Your Hobby is Ready for Business
Alrighty hustlers, Last week, I shared my journey from a pottery hobby to a full-time business. Today, let's discuss how to spot if your hobby is ready for the same leap. Here are five key signs I noticed:
1. Unexpected Demand
Product demand is extremely vital in your pursuit of launching into a full-time business. I remember vividly when I was working my last roster away in the dusty desert, my Instagram DMs were having a sudden influx of questions and design requests/ideas.
π Pay attention to how often people ask to buy your stuff without you advertising, you should not even think about ads until you have found organic growth.
2. Social Proof Snowball
The day a stranger shared my mug on Instagram, It felt like Christmas! Realizing that people will share without any incentive shows they LOVE your product. But sometimes we just need to give a little extra push for customers to share products on socials.
π Offer things like 10% off if you refer a friend with a code. Entice them to share on their socials. If they do, they are likely talking about it to their friends.
3. Glowing Reviews (You Didn't Ask For)
Unsolicited positive feedback is gold. I knew things were serious when customers emailed or messaged to express joy about their purchase.
π Start a simple feedback system. Consistent praise? You're onto something.
4. Organic Growth
I started noticing that my pottery business was a conversation among my local community and through current followers. My customer base was expanding in circles, each satisfied customer creating a ripple effect.
π Analyze this: Are your customers becoming repeat buyers? Better yet, are they bringing new customers with them? That's a powerful sign of organic, sustainable growth!
5. Effortless Innovation
I couldn't stop thinking about new designs. When momentum is happening you feel like everything is working perfectly. I canβt express this enough, document everything! One of my biggest regrets not starting this sooner.
π Start an idea journal. Filling it without trying? Your passion has staying power.
The Bottom Line:
If you're nodding along to these signs, your hobby might be ready for the big scary leap but donβt worry, I will hold your hand through this!
